Some awards pay the higher of the loading or the penalty rates you’d have earned. Leave loading is taxed as part of your pay, and super usually isn’t paid on it.

Leave loading is an extra payment on annual leave, most commonly 17.5% of your base pay. It’s set by your award, enterprise agreement or contract, so not everyone gets it.
Leave loading is taxed with your pay. It usually isn’t counted as ordinary time earnings for super, unless it replaces lost shift penalties.
