About Aussie Calculator
Aussie Calculator is a set of free money calculators for Australians. Every calculation runs in your own browser, so the numbers you type are never sent to us or anyone else.
Where the numbers come from
- Income tax brackets for residents, foreign residents and working holiday makers: the ATO’s published tax rates.
- Low income tax offset: up to $700, reducing by 5c per $1 above $37,500 and 1.5c per $1 above $45,000.
- Medicare levy: 2%, reduced for low incomes using the ATO’s single-person thresholds.
- HELP and other study loans: the ATO’s repayment thresholds and rates (the marginal system that started in 2025–26).
- Super guarantee: 12%.
What it assumes
- You’re single, with no dependants, no other income and no deductions.
- Residents are residents for the full year. Working holiday makers are treated like foreign residents for the Medicare levy.
- It doesn’t include the Medicare levy surcharge (for higher earners without private hospital cover), salary sacrifice, fringe benefits or other offsets.
- Results are the tax worked out for a full year. Your employer withholds tax from each pay using the ATO’s withholding tables, so a single payslip can be a few dollars different.
This is general information, not financial or tax advice. For your own situation, check with the ATO or a registered tax agent.
